One of our guests wrote: The place where we went hiking is called the American Chestnut Land Trust. It’s in Prince Frederick. Highly recommended for hiking and I bet it is great for bird watching in the spring and summer. They have an informative website.

Calvert Cliffs

Twenty four miles of 15 million year old shoreline cliffs that reveal the remains of prehistoric sharks, whales, rays and birds the size of small airplanes. The park has a sandy beach with recycled tire playground, fishing, freshwater and tidal marshland, and hiking trails. $5/vehicle ($2 additional for out-of-state residents).

Chesapeake Beach Railway Trail

In the early 1900’s, the Chesapeake Beach Railway connected D.C to the grand hotels, beaches and boardwalk of the resort town of Chesapeake Beach. The railway is now a trail above a creek and marshlands surrounding it. Museum, depot, rail car, bald eagle, bird watching, water park.

I've heard the boat tours available from the Annapolis Harbor are fun. A friend noted that the smaller, less expensive Spa Creek tour was great. You can also hop the water taxi for a short ride!

Large pier and little boardwalk along the Bay. Snooze in the sand, or check out a few little shops nearby or funky little waterfront houses. Pretty drive if you take back roads through Fairhaven.
